Blue Santa applications are going online!

We’re excited to announce that Baytown Blue Santa applications will be available ONLINE beginning Thursday, October 29th!

Check back October 29th to fill out your application online.

In-person verification is required: You must attend Application Day on Saturday, November 7th, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Baytown Police Department, 3200 N. Main Street, to present your identification, proof of residency, and documents for each child. No application will be approved without this verification.

Unable to apply online? You can complete an application in person on November 7th during Application Day. Volunteers will be available to help.

What began with a few police officers and volunteers has grown into a community effort to bring Christmas joy to local families.

Individual donors, businesses, civic organizations, and the Baytown Municipal Police Association help make the program possible. Every gift and every hour of volunteer time helps carry the tradition forward.

Today, Baytown Blue Santa is a core program of Compass Point Charities, Inc. Its Christmas-assistance mission continues as Compass Point creates room for new ways to serve.

HOW IT WORKS

Families apply

Applications are reviewed, and qualifying families are selected based on the donations and resources available.

Our community gives

Donors provide toys and funds. Volunteers help organize and wrap gifts for the families being served.

Joy is delivered

Baytown Police Department employees, BMPA members, and community volunteers distribute gifts. Some families are invited to pick up gifts at the workshop.

The number of families served depends on the generosity of our donors and the resources available each season.

Bring one of these items with the same name and address as your application:

  • Rental or lease agreement

Verify each child

Bring one of these documents for every child listed:

  • Birth certificate
  • Social Security card
  • Student ID

Complete one online application per household during the announced application period. An adult must then present photo identification, proof of residency, and documents for every child at an in-person verification session before approval.

Submitting an application does not guarantee assistance. Application and document-verification deadlines are separate and will be announced before registration opens.

Help at Wrap Day

Volunteers ages 12 and up are welcome. An adult must accompany every youth under age 17.

Gift wrapping takes place at 111 YMCA Drive, Baytown, across from the Police Department. Check the seasonal schedule before attending.

Jobs are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Available tasks depend on the number of families, donated gifts, and volunteers, so work cannot be guaranteed for everyone.

Have a secure location for collecting toys? Contact us to arrange a cardboard collection box for pickup in the Police Department lobby.

We cannot deliver every box. A volunteer may check your box during the season to help get donations to the program and assigned to families.

Keep the box in a secure location so donated toys cannot be taken.

WRAP DAY

Wrap gifts with the community

Saturday, December 12 · 10 a.m.

Blue Santa workshop · 111 YMCA Drive, Baytown

Volunteers wrap and prepare gifts. Tasks are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We provide tape, wrapping paper, and scissors. If you would like to bring wrapping paper to donate, we gladly accept it.

Tables and chairs are available. Wrap Day takes place in a warehouse environment, so dress comfortably.

Approved families will be contacted by text. Bring the phone containing that message and identification or address verification: a driver’s license, state ID, rental/lease agreement, or current utility bill.

Nathan has served as a Baytown police officer for 21 years and began volunteering with Blue Santa before working as a patrol officer. He became program president 16 years ago and is assigned as the Police Department’s Logistics Officer.

Adrian is assigned to the Special Investigative Division and has worked with Corporal Gallop and the Blue Santa program for several years.
